After a Sunday afternoon of frustration and aggravation I decided it was time for some help. Cleaning my pool the old way with a manual vacuum cleaner was just not working out for me anymore. I hated every minute of it and I was not enjoying my swimming pool because every time I would think about it, I would think about cleaning it.
Now it was time to go out into the marketplace and look for the perfect automatic pool cleaner for me. There was so many to choose from and I soon realized that there were 3 types of cleaners to choose from and then from there I could decide. Suction side cleaners, pressure side cleaners and robotic pool cleaners are the 3 types out there on the market. So here is my explanation of each one:
Suction Side pool cleaners use your pool filter system just like a manual vacuum by sucking up debris and letting your filter get rid of it.
A pressure side pool cleaner also uses your pool filter system but it uses the return water pressure to power the cleaner and to create a vortex that picks up debris into a filter bag.
Robotic pool cleaners DO NOT use your filter system to run. Instead they use electricity to run two motors, one to drive it around and one to suck up debris into a filter bag. All you would need to do is plug it into a standard outlet and drop it into your swimming pool.
Each type of pool cleaner has it’s benefits. Which ever you decide to go with here are some quick tips to think about:
Look for name brand cleaners like Polaris, Aquabot and Zodiac since these are the easiest to find parts for if it breaks or needs repair.
Also some suction cleaners tend to be the cheapest so look more into robotic and pressure side automatic pool cleaners.
