Shopping for a Treadmill

When it comes time to buy a treadmill, one of the most important decisions is how much you are willing to spend. This would have to include your budget for everything else that comes with a treadmill such as the extra warranty coverage that might cost money as well as any other accessories like a treadmill mat.  A larger or thicker mat will cost more than the standard sized mats but will be required if you end up buying a machine that is larger than the typical home treadmill.

The first limitation to how much you can spend is your budget. This is a straight forward concept since you cannot spend more than you have accessible to you. While financing is always an option it might not be such a good idea since you could always wait a few months and muster up the thousand dollars you would need for a basic model. The sooner you come to terms with your financial situation, to better you will be at picking out the right treadmill for your purposes.

If a basic model is all you can afford, keep in mind that these machines have limited durability compared to other models. If you plan on using it rigorously and doing sprinting workouts everyday of the week, then you can expect to wear this machine out in a very short manner of time. Determining the intensity and frequency of use will let you know what type of treadmill you will need in terms of durability.

Do not forget the rest of the features that come with most treadmills. Beyond the external stuff like treadmill mats, repair kits, and cleaning kits we are talking about what is inside the console. Things like pre-programmed workout plans are nice to have especially if you have specific goals in mind and like the virtual trainer option. There are heart monitors and calorie counters on some models so don’t forget to check those things out.
