Massage Table Sheets

Have you just purchased a massage table and are wondering about how to properly prepare it for use?  The first thing you will need for your table are massage table sheets. These can be regular twin sized sheets, fitted or unfitted. Unfitted sheets will need to be secured at the corners to produce a pleasing, finished look like a freshly made hotel bed. This is usually done by tying the ends of the sheets one way or another. With the right fitted sheet, the elastic around the edge of the sheet will be enough to secure it to the table. You’ll need a bottom sheet to protect the surface of the table and a top sheet to cover the client. It’s best to use a natural material such as cotton or flannel, as these feel the most comfortable against the skin. Flannel has the added benefit of being thicker, imparting warmth and doing a better job of soaking up any excess oil used during the course of the massage.

As for the face cradle cover, the most handy covers are custom made to fit the face cradle. These are slightly more expensive but many massage therapists find they are worth it as they don’t fall off like pillowcases or other simple cloth do. These covers also completely cover the face cradle, which is what you want. Again, it’s best to use something made of a natural material.

If you want to spend a bit more, you can order specially made massage table covers that will fit your table exactly. These are great for massage therapists who really  need to economize on time, as you can pretty much just put on the cover instead of going to each individual corner to secure the sheet to the table.  The process can then be reversed at the end of the massage- great for therapists with a tight schedule who go from house to house!
